Every washer needs detergent to do its job but a variety of complications can prevent this essential component from ever reaching clothes. Why is my Samsung washer not dispensing soap? Regularly using too much detergent can create a buildup of residue that blocks the dispenser. Pinpoint soap dispensing issues in your Samsung washer with these troubleshooting tips.

How to Fix a Samsung Washer Not Dispensing Soap

In most cases, a Samsung washer not dispensing soap can be resolved with a DIY fix, simple adjustment, or basic maintenance. Here’s how to determine the right solution for your washer detergent dispenser problem.

Using Too Much Detergent

Habitually using too much detergent is one of the most common reasons for a Samsung washer not dispensing soap. When too much soap is used over time, residue will accumulate and ultimately block the siphoning of detergent from the dispenser. Using a detergent that’s too thick can also cause excessive buildup that prevents it from siphoning properly into the washer tub.

When adding detergent to the dispenser, make sure it never exceeds the MAX fill line inside the detergent compartment. If your detergent seems too thick for the dispenser, try changing brands or diluting it with a little bit of water. However, take care not to exceed the MAX fill line with the diluted detergent.

Make Sure the Auto Dispenser is On

Is your detergent drawer not emptying? If your model washer has an Auto dispenser, it must be enabled for detergent to be released. The Auto dispenser allows you to fill it with enough detergent for multiple wash cycles. It then releases enough detergent for one wash load at a time, leaving the rest in the dispenser for future loads. Refer to your user manual to determine how to enable this feature on your model washer.

If the Auto dispenser feature is on but you still feel that there is inadequate detergent, it can be adjusted to dispense more. Your user manual can also confirm the right methods for how to do so. Typically, the amounts can be adjusted to low, medium, or high.

Samsung Washer Not Level

A washer that isn’t level can cause a slant in the detergent drawer that may impede the siphoning of detergent. All Samsung washers have leveling legs that can be adjusted higher or lower to ensure that they rest evenly on the floor. If you find your washing machine detergent dispenser not working and the washer rocks back and forth during operation, the legs may require an adjustment.

Using a wrench, rotate your Samsung washer leveling legs counterclockwise to raise them or clockwise to lower them. Once the legs rest evenly on the floor, tighten the locking nut on each leg so it’s flush alongside the bottom of the washer. The locking nut holds each leg in place at its desired height.
