Causes of a KitchenAid Refrigerator Not Dispensing Water or Ice

 If you can’t find the TO LOCK button you should refer to your owner’s manual. If you didn’t keep a paper copy of your owner’s manual and you find your Kitchenaid refrigerator water and ice dispenser not working you can usually get an electronic copy on Kitchenaid’s website.

Need to Replace Water Filter

 If your KitchenAid refrigerator water dispenser works intermittently, the problem may be due to a clogged or defective water filter. An early sign of a filter that needs replacing is when your water and ice taste bad. Once the filter stops working altogether though, water will no longer be dispensed, and your ice maker can’t make ice.

Water Inlet Malfunction

  If the filter is fine, you should check to see if the water pressure has changed. Low water pressure can be the cause if you notice that your Kitchenaid Refrigerator water dispenser works intermittently.

Check the condition of the line; if you see a kinked or frozen water line, take note. You may be able to straighten out a kinked line, but you might need to make adjustments to your freezer settings if the water line is frozen. If the problem has already caused some damage, you may have a defective water inlet valve. If so, we recommend that you contact a qualified service technician to take care of this.

Defective Door Switch

Dispenser Switch Failure

The dispenser switch activates the physical dispenser itself. If this switch doesn’t work, your Kitchenaid refrigerator won’t dispense water or ice. To find out if the dispenser issue is caused by dispenser switch failure, you’ll need to test the switch with a multimeter. Just like with the door switch, if there is no continuity, you’ll need to replace the dispenser switch.
